Christmas at Frenchgate shopping centre was officially kicked off by Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Knights in spectacular style on Thursday evening as they illuminated the shopping centre’s festive lights at the big Switch On event.

The players were welcomed by a centre full of enthusiastic fans. As the plunger was pressed the centre lit up and snow began to fall. Adoring fans were rewarded with signed autographs and photos taken with their sporting heroes.

Santa Claus arrived in style on board his electrical eco-sleigh, which to the delight of the children attending was loaded with gifts. Many of the children received special presents from Santa and had their photos taken. Some of them even took the opportunity to take a ride around the centre on board the magnificent sleigh.
