Discover Frenchgate Shopping Centre

The Frenchgate Centre has been the heart of Doncaster for over 40 years, and was originally called the Arndale Centre after its creators, but was renamed in 1988 after a change of ownership, when it became know as Frenchgate, after one of the old gates of medieval Doncaster and the street which passes to the east of the centre.

At the start of the decade the centre underwent a £200 million facelift to transform it into the country's first shopping centre with integrated public transport and retail interchange facility. Shortly after the refurbishment was opened to the public in June 2006, it was bought by its current owner who is continuing to invest in the property, improving upon facilities and its function within the community.
