Diners at Doncaster’s newest restaurant, Elephant & Castle, are set to be joined by two very special guests when it opens at Frenchgate Shopping Centre on Monday 17th May.
To celebrate the opening of Frenchgate’s brand new restaurant, whilst also supporting our chosen charity of the year, The Children’s Hospital Charity we have kindly been loaned Jackophant and Gulal Graffiti from Abbey Forged Products, for our customers to view and enjoy.
These Elephants were on display during the Herd of Sheffield trail in 2016 and was the largest public art event to have ever taken place in South Yorkshire. The Herd saw 58 Big Elephants (like these!) and 72 Little Elephant sculptures placed around the Sheffield streets to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity. The Herd raised over £600,000 in total – amazing!’
Frenchgate will be welcoming two of the elephants which were auctioned for the charity once the event had finished. The Gulal Graffiti elephant, which was inspired by Holi festival and the distinctive Jackophant elephant, who proudly wears the red, white and blue of the UK’s national flag.
If you would like to donate to The Children's Hospital Charity, text SHEFFCHILDRENS to 70085 to donate £5 or head to their website on www.tchc.org.uk/donate/
In addition, Frenchgate are working with a local school to decorate their very own elephant which will have a permanent home within the centre.
Known for delighting diners with amazing service in a laid-back environment, Elephant & Castle will be open from 12pm (10am on Saturdays)– late, 7 days a week for dine in, collection and delivery.
Promising something for every taste, expect a menu with firm favourites from the char-grilled Elephant Burger and famous crispy chicken wings to fresh pastas, homemade desserts, tasty kid’s meals, a stacked wine selection and much more!
Karen Staniforth, General Manager at Frenchgate Shopping Centre, commented: “We are delighted to be giving two of the Herd of Sheffield elephants a temporary home within the centre to celebrate the opening of Elephant & Castle. They look fantastic and I know they will be a real talking point with our customers.
“This is the start of a developing partnership between Elephant & Castle and The Children’s Hospital Charity, which is great. The restaurant is already starting to make an impact on the local community, and that is fantastic to see.
“We would like to thank Jackie Neal of Abbey Forged Products for the loan of the elephants.”
