A South Yorkshire shopping centre is gearing up for one of the biggest days in the retail calendar.
Shopaholics are set to flock to Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster on Friday November 24 to take advantage of the huge Black Friday discounts.
Black Friday is a crucial day for retailers and Frenchgate Shopping Centre is preparing for it to be the busiest day of the year so far, with stores such as H&M, Game, Dorothy Perkins, and Boots cutting prices to tempt savvy shoppers.
Karen Staniforth, Assistant General Manager at Frenchgate, said: "Last year we were saw thousands of people flood through our centre doors looking for some great festive deals. It was a great day for staff and customers alike.
“We are looking forward to welcoming even more customers this year and there will be some great deals available. We would suggest that visitors plan their shopping list in advance and arrive early to get the most out of the day and bag a real bargain. Frenchgate will be open 9am until 8pm on Black Friday to ensure there is plenty of time for shoppers to grab the best deals at participating stores.”
Black Friday is quickly becoming a huge day for shoppers in the UK, with an estimated £1.9 billion spent on the day in 2016.
Retailers are preparing for figures to rise even higher this year, with estimates that shoppers could bag around £5 billion of bargains over the Black Friday week.
Traditionally following the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday seemed to be a solely American celebration, however seasonal sales have rocketed since the deals were brought to the UK in recent years, and the holiday looks set to stay.
While it is expected that more money will be spent in online sales, the novelty of finding a bargain in the shops just can’t be beaten.
Not only will customers be treated to incredible discounts, but the centre will be full of seasonal spirit. Visitors can take a magical trip to Father Christmas’ grotto and join in fantastic festive activities between bargain-hunting.
