Champagne corks have been popping at Frenchgate Shopping Centre after a new ‘pop-up’ prosecco bar officially opened its doors.
The bar, Prosecco Pit Stop, has launched outside Debenhams on the first floor.
The temporary addition to the shopping centre has been launched in the run up to the famous Ladbrokes St Leger Festival at Doncaster Racecourse, which takes place from 7 to 10 September.
The bar is serving a range of proscecco, champagne, world beers and other beverages and is owned and operated by local publicans Shaun and Lucy Applegate of The Station Hotel in Blaxton.
Prosecco Pit Stop is furnished with bistro style tables and chairs, and features a lifelike lawn to give customers a casual retreat during or after a day of retail therapy.
Bill Mordue MP, councillor for business, skills, tourism and culture in Doncaster, was on hand to officially open the bar.
He said: “The Prosecco Pit Stop is an unusual but fantastic offer for Doncaster. It’s very nice to sit and have a drink in a relaxed atmosphere. It adds a different dimension to Frenchgate. It’s a destination, rather than a shopping centre.”
Daniel Matters, commercialisation manager at Frenchgate Shopping Centre, said: “It has been my ambition to bring a prosecco bar to Frenchgate as it’s something that I thought would do really well and add a different experience for shoppers.
“What better way to for people to relax during or after a hard day of shopping with us than a lovely chilled glass of fizz!
“Following the St Leger Festival, the bar will be relocating to a more permanent position within the shopping later this year.”
During its time at Frenchgate, the bar will also be teaming up with some of the top retailers based at the shopping centre to provide special offers, discounts and treats for customers.
Presecco Pit Stop is open Monday to Wednesday 10am – 7pm, Thursday and Friday 10am – 8pm, Saturday 10am – 7pm and Sunday 11am – 5pm.
