Lincolnshire based artisan cheese shop, The Chuckling Cheese Company, is the latest brand to open on Eat Street, a dedicated food destination within Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster.

The new 1,000 sq ft shop is the 24th deal to be completedat Frenchgate in the last 12 months, totalling 82,500 sq ft. The Chuckling Cheese Company are an independent business which offer a broad range of cheese produced in Skegness and the local area as well as a selection of artisan alcoholic and soft beverages, chutneys, sweet treats and cheese wedding cakes.

They join other local independent businesses on Eat Street including LCafe, who opened a 2,600 sq ft site earlier this year, which is also anchored by a 39,750 sq ft Sainsbury’s.  One remaining unit is available to lease.

The brands form part of a larger strategy designed by the Frenchgate to create Doncaster’s number one grab and go dining destination.

Paddy Mellon, General Manager at Frenchgate said: “We are delighted with the success of Eat Street and how well the range of so-called grab and go food outlets have been received by our customers. With only one unit remaining, we look forward to completing our Eat Street offer.

“These high quality, local operators and nationally recognized brands have proved to be very complimentary and are trading extremely well and, alongside others within Frenchgate, such as Toppings Pies, are great examples of what Yorkshire’s food and drink scene has to offer.”

Emma Colclough, Director at The Chuckling Cheese Company, added: “We began our journey towards taking a store in Frenchgate when wevisited a local food festival.  We were so impressed by Doncaster’s heritage as a market town and the potential at Frenchgate that we signed for a store on Eat Street as soon as we could.  Following its success and the reception from Frenchgate shoppers we know it is the perfect location to continue our company’s expansion.”

Eat Street benefits from very high footfall throughout the year thanks to its position as one of the main pedestrianised routes between the town centre, Frenchgate, the bus and mainline railway stations, and Frenchgate’s 1,800 space car park.  100,000 workers are based within a 10-minute radius of Frenchgate.

The arrival of The Chuckling Cheese Company and LCafe follow the opening of Flip Out, The UK’s biggest trampoline park operator, who launched in the former BHS site at Frenchgate earlier this year.

Time Retail and Rawstron Johnson acted on behalf of Frenchgate, which is managed by Lambert Smith Hampton’s Belfast office.  Stuart Colclough acted on behalf of The Chuckling Cheese Company.
