NEW FAMILY-FRIENDLY PUB TO OPEN IN DONCASTER
Cheers! Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster is celebrating after its first pub opened its doors.
New Hungry Horse pub the Mallard has opened it's doors for the first time on Tuesday 19 May, as the family-friendly pub chain brings its big value on food and drink to Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster.
Operated by nationwide pub chain Hungry Horse, the Mallard - located near to the Frenchgate’s entrance from the national rail station - has helped create up to 40 full and part-time jobs for the local community.
Following a competition involving local residents, the pub was named after the steam locomotive that was built in the city and still holds a world speed record.
Frenchgate Shopping Centre manager Laurie Barton Wright said: “We’re so pleased to be able to welcome our customers to a new outlet, thanks to the opening of the Mallard.
“Alongside our improvement work on the food mall at Frenchgate, the arrival of our first pub is another important milestone in our ongoing programme to enhance all aspects of the retail and leisure experience we offer."
Penny Smith, manager of the Mallard, said: “We are really excited to get our doors open and show the people of Doncaster their new pub. The Mallard is the place to visit for anyone looking to enjoy good quality, great value, food and drink in a fun and friendly atmosphere while they visit Frenchgate Shopping Centre.”
The Mallard offers a contemporary look throughout with HD TVs, leather booth seating areas complete with their own TVs, and images on the walls linking to the pub name and local area.
Frenchgate’s pub will also have a range of weekly meal offers including a curry and pint deal for £5 on Wednesdays and two roast dinners for £10 on Sundays.
Marc McGuigan, business unit director for Hungry Horse, said: “I am confident that the Mallard is going to be a great addition to the shopping centre. We pride ourselves on creating welcoming, family-friendly pubs and with a site situated at such a significant entrance to the centre it will be a great way to greet people to the city.”
