Security

Your Safety at Frenchgate

Because feeling safe should be part of your shopping experience

At Frenchgate, your safety and security are our top priorities, right alongside making sure you enjoy your visit.

We work closely with our trusted partners, South Yorkshire Police (SYP) & British Transport Police (BTP) (who have a permanent base right here in the centre!), and Doncaster Council to ensure everyone visiting, shopping, dining, or working at Frenchgate can do so in a safe and welcoming environment.

Located at the heart of Doncaster’s transport network, with direct links to both the train and bus stations, Frenchgate is more than just a shopping destination — it’s part of the city’s community hub. That’s why we work hand in hand with BTP and other local agencies to keep things running smoothly and securely both inside the centre and across the wider interchange.

How We Keep You Safe

You might notice some of our safety measures… and some you might not!

We combine visible and behind-the-scenes security to make sure everyone feels confident and cared for.

Our measures include:
• 24-hour live-monitored CCTV
• Regular internal and external patrols
• Counter Terrorism policing initiatives
• Centre-wide safety programmes

Our friendly Security and Customer Service teams are always out and about. Trained to handle any situation, they work closely with our CCTV control room to keep the centre safe around the clock.
If they stop to say hello, don’t worry, it’s just part of what makes Frenchgate feel welcoming.

Working with South Yorkshire Police & British Transport Police

We’re proud to work alongside South Yorkshire Police and British Transport Police to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone.

From time to time, you may see a range of police-led operations taking place in and around the centre. These can include:
Knife arches and weapon sweeps to help prevent serious violence
Pop-up engagement events to discuss anti-social behaviour (ASB) and local crime issues
High-visibility patrols and proactive checks to deter criminal activity

These operations are designed to reassure visitors, deter crime, and help keep our community safe. Officers involved are specially trained to identify suspicious or concerning behaviour and may be supported by police dogs or other specialist units when required.

They’re always happy to chat about their work so if you see them, feel free to say hello or find out more about local policing initiatives.

Prohibited Items

To keep everyone safe and comfortable, a few items are strictly not allowed inside the centre:
• Weapons or bladed items
• Controlled drugs or narcotics
• Explosives or fireworks
